NEWS RELEASE: 2020 Brushy Moutain Applefestival has been Cancelled

The Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club is saddened to announce today that due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 Brushy Mountain Apple Festival was been cancelled.

President of the Board Debi Davis stated, '' The Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club is dedicated to helping the Wilkes County community. We wouldn't want to put anyone at risk. Our number one priority is the health and well-being of the community, attendees, vendors and volunteers. ''

The Brushy Mountain Apple Festival, one of the largest one-day arts and crafts festivals in the southeast, is held annually the first Saturday of October in downtown North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The festival offers Appalachian Heritage crafts including woodcarving, chair and soap making, pottery throwing, beekeeping, knife making and quilting just to name a few. Local apple growers set up throughout the festival selling their apples, cider, and dried apples and over 100 civic, church, and other non-profit organizations participate in the festival along with over 275 arts and crafts and 60 food concession vendors. The festival includes three different music stages featuring Bluegrass, Americana, Gospel and a dance stage. The festival is owned, organized and operated by the Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club, and has been held every year since 1978.

The 2021 Festival is scheduled for October 2nd, 2021.

The Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club would like to encourage everyone to visit the local orchards as they are open and serving customers.
